Rylan Freed
Melfort-raised. SJHL champion. GMHL MVP.
Tisdale Trojans development coach.
Now passing it on.
“Grateful to do what I love. Hockey gave me so much, and now I get to pass it on to the next generation of players.” Rylan Freed · Founder
Grateful to do what I love. That's how Rylan describes life on the ice. From Melfort minor hockey to being selected in the WHL Draft, winning an SJHL championship, earning MVP honours, and playing hockey in Australia, his journey has been shaped by hard work and a passion for the game. Every stop taught him something, and he's grateful for all of it.
Rylan grew up in Melfort and played on the same rinks, and made the same long winter drives, as the kids he coaches today. He knows what it takes to reach the next level because he's done it: the hours of skating, the reps on the shot, the setbacks and the wins.
He started RF Hockey Development in 2020 to pass all of that on. He is Power Edge Pro certified, coaches U18 AAA and still plays senior hockey. He brings that experience to every session so the next generation of Saskatchewan players can get further, faster.

MVP to Coaching
As an alternate captain with the Temiscaming Titans in 2017–18, he scored 100 points in 35 games and was named GMHL North MVP and an All-Star. That season earned him a scholarship commitment to the Selkirk College Saints of the BCIHL, but he ultimately chose to pursue coaching. He's kept playing since, including a 2023–24 season with the Melbourne Mustangs in Australia's AIHL, the same year he led the Wheatland Senior Hockey League in assists.
