“Grateful to do what I love. Hockey gave me so much, and now I get to pass it on to the next generation of players.” Rylan Freed · Founder

Grateful to do what I love. That's how Rylan describes life on the ice. From Melfort minor hockey to being selected in the WHL Draft, winning an SJHL championship, earning MVP honours, and playing hockey in Australia, his journey has been shaped by hard work and a passion for the game. Every stop taught him something, and he's grateful for all of it.

Rylan grew up in Melfort and played on the same rinks, and made the same long winter drives, as the kids he coaches today. He knows what it takes to reach the next level because he's done it: the hours of skating, the reps on the shot, the setbacks and the wins.

He started RF Hockey Development in 2020 to pass all of that on. He is Power Edge Pro certified, coaches U18 AAA and still plays senior hockey. He brings that experience to every session so the next generation of Saskatchewan players can get further, faster.

    MVP to Coaching

As an alternate captain with the Temiscaming Titans in 2017–18, he scored 100 points in 35 games and was named GMHL North MVP and an All-Star. That season earned him a scholarship commitment to the Selkirk College Saints of the BCIHL, but he ultimately chose to pursue coaching. He's kept playing since, including a 2023–24 season with the Melbourne Mustangs in Australia's AIHL, the same year he led the Wheatland Senior Hockey League in assists.

Why train with Rylan

01Been where they want to go

U18 AAA, a WHL draft pick, three Junior A leagues, a championship, a college scholarship and hockey overseas. Rylan knows each step because he's taken it.

02Certified Power Edge Pro instructor

Power Edge Pro's small-area, reactive training has players skating and handling the puck under pressure at the same time, so every rep looks like a real game moment and carries over when it counts.

03Coaches at a high level now

As part of a U18 AAA coaching staff, he sees every week what scouts and coaches expect at the next level.

04Local and invested

He was raised in Melfort and is committed to Saskatchewan hockey, with sessions that fit rural schedules and small-town ice times.
